"Even with all my experience and accomplishments in ice hockey, I understand that players don't care what you know, unless they first know you care."
"It is awesome to see middle school and high school students getting involved in ice hockey. As the coach, I don't care if you're the best or worst player on the team, you are playing the greatest game there is. I have always been involved with coaching, from little league to high school, from football to ice hockey. As a Frederick County teacher, I just love being around kids and students. In addition, to be an effective coach you first have to be an effective student. I was blessed with great teachers and coaches from elementary school through college. If I can get one student, or player, to think that of me, then I consider coaching well worth it."
Coach Toby has been coaching the Urbana Hawks Hockey team for four years. Under his leadership, the team has been in the playoffs each of the last four seasons. In his first year as Head Coach, 2010 - 2011, he guided the team to the State Championship. Coach Toby was awarded MSHL Coach of the Year in 2011, and was one of the coaches for the MSHL All-Star game in the same year. 2011 was also the year the Urbana Hawks Hockey Team, for the first time in their history, won their first MVHL Title.
