Individual fees are determined each year by how many skaters commit to play. A budget is drawn up based on current and anticipated costs for practice ice, Maryland Scholastic Hockey League (MSHL) fees, Sunday Night League fees, Tournament fees, Alumni Game costs, and all other costs associated with running the Club for the upcoming season. This amount is then divided by the number of players. These fees (which may be augmented by fund raising activities) are collected based on the following schedule: (1) $400 due in August of each year, or when the Club first meets to plan for the upcoming season-Budget is distributed and discussed; (2) Final payment due prior to first MSHL game (sometime around the beginning of November). In addition to player fees, each new player will be charged approximately $150 for home and away jerseys and socks. This amount is due along with the second player fee in late September or early October. Players and their families may also purchase Urbana Hawks Hockey sweatshirts, caps, etc. through the Club-payment is due with the order. The following "rules" apply to Urbana Hawks Hockey Club player fees: (1) Any player in arrears with the above payment schedule may not practice or play until the amount due has been satisfied or different payment arrangements have been agreed to with the Treasurer ahead of time. (2) A skater playing another High School fall sport (or participating in Urbana's band) will be charged the full fee for playing Hawks Hockey but may be excused from practice until the end of the fall sport if, and only if, (a) the high school sport's practice or game interferes with the hockey practice or game AND (b) the player receives permission from the hockey coach (3) A skater playing on a "travel" hockey team will also be charged the full fee for playing Hawks Hockey but may be excused from practice under the same rules as above (4) A skater playing another High School winter sport will be charged the full fee for playing Hawks Hockey but will not be excused from practice without the hockey coach's permission-Urbana Hawks hockey should be a player's High School winter sport (5) Any player with unexcused absences from practice will be dealt with based on guidelines established by the hockey coach (6) If a player is not eligible to play in the MSHL for Urbana but would like to practice and play in the Sunday Night League, the coach must first approve the request and a fee will be charged according to what best fits the situation. (7) If a player gets seriously hurt while playing for the Club and can not finish the season a pro-rata reduction in fees may be available if requested and approved by the Club however no reduction in fees will be granted for "minor" injuries or injuries sustained in other than Club games or practices. (8) If a player quits or is deemed ineligible for any games because of poor academic performance no fees will be returned. |
